"Tr
out-in-the Classroom" program. This program gives grade school students first hand   experience at raising fish from eggs to fingerlings. Along the way they learn about stream habitats, water resources, and how ecosystems are inter-related. They also develop a conservation ethic.

"Exit 31 Project"
This project represents the largest and most involved project the chapter has undertaken to date. Presently we are in the implementation phase of a restoration plan for approximately 2900 feet of the Pemigewasset River in Woodstock, NH, west of Exit 31 off I-93.  Read the full executive summary to understand exactly how this will impact the habitat and cold water fishery of the upper Pemigewassett  River.

Youth Instruction:  The chapter's latest project is headed up by Steve Hackett, our current treasurer.

Here is what Steve has to say:
"Ray Kucharski, Dick Secord, and myself have been working on establishing a fly fishing program for kids.  Our objective is to interest young people in fly fishing and by association teach conservation.  We will start a program after Presidents week vacation with about 8 boys from the Campton/Thornton Boy Scout troop #58.  This will be a pilot program. We will use the material from First Cast, an established fly fishing curriculum, to construct the program.  The boys want to obtain their merit badge as well & chapter member Richie Bernard, a licensed Orvis Guide & certified merit badge examiner will guide us through that process. The course will teach fly tying, knots, casting, reading water, bugs, other related topics, & have 2 field trips.  Since this is a pilot program, we are in need of loans of equipment & help if any of you are interested in  the program. The equipment needed is any type of fly tying equipment, vices, hackle plyers, scissors, whip finishers, etc. & spare or unused tying materials.  Your help would be assisting with the classes(they will be every other Monday at 7pm) and/or assisting with the field trips.
For me this is a chance to have an impact on the future of fly fishing, 8 kids at a time.  I can be contacted by email slincolnh@aol.com or 726-4797
